Evergreen Terrace - Wolfbiker - 24.07.07

With a raw but bright production to showcase this great array of songs, anybody who enjoys a giant slab of hardcore will dig this and some. And when the riffs momentarily dry up, it’s still a result; you’ll be treated to a big chorus, decent vocals and maybe a surprising beatdown. The album is so plentiful in fact, that you can find everything from classic up-tempo hardcore, riffy brow-furrowing metal, punk, and even neck-hair tugging melodies – but all with ET’s confident brand stamp. They even possess the cocky front to name one of the tracks after one of their clear influences in: ‘Chaney Can’t Quite Riff Like Helmet’s Page Hamilton’, and it rocks.

Although perhaps not to the skyward standards of Helmet, Evergreen Terrace do attain their own highly recommendable merits on their latest record. Quite simply, (and in a parallel universe), if the band were to feature in a pack of Top Trumps playing cards, their ‘Fun Factor’ score would win the hand every time. Whether this vibe was intentional or not is irrelevant; ‘Wolfbiker’ is an infectious menu of truly enjoyable songs that really tickle your taste buds with an unusually yummy flavour.

Top banana.
