Eluveitie - Everything Remains As It Never Was - 19.02.10

It’s not everyone’s bag, but Eluveitie’s latest grandiose platter is a fine example of how to nail the folk metal genre and expand it further into something quite epic and original. Accompanying the stalwart hectic drums and guitars is a myriad of folk instruments which are utilised more frequently than the norm in this genre, exhibiting obvious talents. On this record you’ll find black metal, folk, poppy choruses and big, groovy riffs all at once. This does leave the impression that they’re not entirely sure in which direction they’re heading, but when things are this much fun, who cares?
